Aurora, IL – Residents in the Aurora area are invited to join the ACLU of Illinois, Indivisible Batavia Aurora, and Indivisible Illinois for a free community event on Sunday, November 9, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Eola Community Center, located at 555 S. Eola Rd, Aurora.
The program, titled “Power to the People: Aurora,” will focus on the current First Amendment landscape, including free speech and protesters’ rights in Illinois and across the country. ACLU legal experts will lead a “Know Your Rights” presentation to help attendees better understand their rights when attending protests, organizing demonstrations, or engaging in public advocacy.
Organizers say the event will also include remarks from Indivisible Batavia Aurora about local civic engagement and opportunities for residents to get involved in grassroots organizing. Participants will have a chance to share their experiences and discuss concerns about free expression and democracy in today’s political climate.
Attendance is free, but registration is required due to limited space. Light refreshments will be provided.
