Auburn, ME – A stolen vehicle pursuit spanning multiple Maine communities ended in Auburn Friday morning after two crashes and the arrest of five occupants, including three juveniles.

According to the Androscoggin County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were notified around 7:42 a.m. Friday of a motor vehicle pursuit that began in Auburn after Lewiston Police located a vehicle reported stolen earlier that morning in Saco.

Deputies intercepted the pursuit on Main Street in Lewiston before it continued back into Auburn, where the Sheriff’s Office assumed primary responsibility. During the chase, the fleeing vehicle was involved in two crashes—first at the intersection of Turner and Court streets, and later on Academy Street—but continued to flee.

Authorities say the pursuit was ultimately terminated on Rockhill Avenue by Corporal Dylan Morin.

Five occupants were apprehended from the vehicle. The operator, a 17-year-old male from Saco, was transported to the Long Creek Youth Development Center. He faces felony charges including violation of juvenile probation, reckless conduct with a dangerous weapon, and eluding, according to deputies.

An adult passenger, Jazya Swan, 18, of South Portland, was charged with unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, violation of conditions of release, and theft by receiving stolen property. Swan is currently being held at the Androscoggin County Jail on $750 cash bail.

A 15-year-old female was charged with unauthorized use of property and released to a family member. A 17-year-old male and an 18-year-old female were charged with civil liquor violations and released.

Investigators later determined the suspects were allegedly involved in motor vehicle burglaries in Portland. Deputies are coordinating with the Portland Police Department, and additional charges are expected.

The Auburn Police Department and Maine Warden Service assisted in the incident.
