Miami, FL – The National Hurricane Center (NHC) is monitoring three tropical systems this weekend across the Atlantic and eastern Pacific, each with a low chance of development over the next seven days.

According to the NHC’s Saturday, October 18 outlook, a tropical wave a few hundred miles east of the Windward Islands (designated AL98) is producing showers and storms as it moves west at 20–25 mph. The system has a 10% chance of formation in 48 hours and 30% over the next week. While development chances remain modest, heavy rain and gusty winds are likely across the Windward Islands Sunday and Sunday night.

A second disturbance in the North Atlantic, located northeast of Bermuda, could briefly acquire subtropical characteristics before it encounters cooler waters on Sunday. That system carries a 10% formation chance over both 48 hours and seven days.

In the eastern Pacific, forecasters are also watching a trough several hundred miles off the coast of Central America. The area has a 10% chance of development within 48 hours and 20% over the next week as it drifts westward.

No immediate threats to land are expected from any of these systems, but meteorologists emphasize that conditions could change quickly as the tropics remain active through October.
