Atlanta, GA – Georgia’s first weekend of spring will bring a sharp temperature swing, starting with a Friday morning frost advisory before transitioning into a warm and sunny stretch.

According to the National Weather Service in Peachtree City, a frost advisory is in effect from 2 a.m. to 10 a.m. Friday across much of north and central Georgia, including Atlanta, Athens, Macon, and Columbus. Temperatures could dip as low as 27°F, posing a risk to tender plants and outdoor vegetation. Residents are advised to cover sensitive plants or bring them indoors to prevent damage.

By Friday afternoon, conditions will rapidly improve, with highs reaching the low 60s under sunny skies. Winds will remain light, providing a comfortable transition into the weekend.

First Spring Weekend Brings Ideal Weather

Saturday and Sunday will feel more like spring, with highs climbing into the 70s and mostly sunny skies across the region. Saturday night will be clear with lows in the mid-40s, eliminating the frost risk.

However, Sunday night could bring scattered showers and possible thunderstorms, particularly in central and southern Georgia. The wet weather may persist into Monday morning before clearing by the afternoon.

Looking Ahead: Next Week’s Forecast

Early next week, temperatures will stay mild, with highs in the upper 60s to low 70s and mostly clear skies. Another round of rain may arrive by midweek, but no severe weather is expected.

Residents should prepare for one last cold snap Friday morning before enjoying a classic spring weekend with sunshine and warm afternoons.
