ATLANTA, Ga. – Much of Georgia will enjoy a stretch of cooler-than-normal weather early this week, but storm chances are expected to build again by Thursday. Morning lows will dip into the 50s in parts of north and central Georgia, giving the state a crisp feel more typical of early fall than late August.
According to the National Weather Service in Peachtree City, dry and mostly sunny conditions will dominate through Wednesday, with highs staying in the upper 70s to low 90s depending on location. That pattern shifts late Thursday as isolated thunderstorms begin to push in, followed by a higher risk for scattered storms Friday through Sunday.
Metro Atlanta can expect partly cloudy skies Monday and Tuesday, with morning lows in the low 60s and highs near 90. Gainesville, Athens, and Macon will see similar trends, with the coolest mornings in the northern counties. By late week, heavy downpours and gusty winds may affect evening commutes, especially along I-75 and I-85 corridors.
Residents are advised to monitor changing conditions heading into the weekend and prepare for lightning and brief flooding in low-lying areas.
Cooler mornings and pleasant afternoons will hold until midweek, but storm risks will linger across Georgia through Sunday.
