Atlanta, Ga. – North Georgia will see summer heat build early this week, with highs reaching 90 degrees in Atlanta by Tuesday before thunderstorms move in midweek. The warm, mostly dry stretch is expected to last through Wednesday afternoon before showers and storms bring relief.

According to the National Weather Service in Peachtree City, skies will remain mostly sunny Monday and Tuesday, with afternoon highs in the upper 80s to near 90 and overnight lows in the upper 60s. Winds will stay light out of the southeast. By late Wednesday night, a 40% chance of storms is expected, increasing to 70% Thursday, bringing the potential for locally heavy rain.

Communities from Peachtree City to Marietta and Gwinnett County should prepare for wet commutes and possible ponding on roads by Thursday. Outdoor plans, including after-school sports and evening events, could be disrupted as storms develop.

Drivers are advised to monitor road conditions and allow extra travel time during peak rain periods. Residents should also secure outdoor furniture ahead of storms and keep devices charged in case of outages.

The stretch of heat will hold through Wednesday before storms cool conditions into the 80s late week. Additional advisories may be issued if storm coverage expands.
