Atlanta, Georgia – Thunderstorms will continue to rumble across much of North and Central Georgia through Wednesday, offering some heat relief but also bringing hazards like gusty winds, lightning, and heavy downpours.

According to the National Weather Service in Peachtree City, afternoon and evening storms are likely each day through midweek, with the highest coverage expected Tuesday into Wednesday. Isolated storms could begin by late morning in some areas, though mornings will generally stay dry.

Atlanta, Macon, and Gainesville could see pop-up storms develop during peak heating hours, especially between 2 and 8 p.m. Lightning, brief power outages, and slippery roads are possible during these times. Winds may gust above 30 mph in stronger cells. While rainfall will be locally heavy, flash flooding isn’t expected at this time.

Residents are urged to stay weather-aware, especially if working or traveling outdoors. Seek shelter at the first sign of thunder, and secure outdoor items that could blow away. With storms lingering into the evening, drive with caution during the commute home.

Storm chances will begin tapering off by Thursday, but heat concerns will remain. Additional alerts are possible depending on storm intensity.
