Georgia – Warm air is already building across metro Atlanta this morning as a soft southeast breeze moves through neighborhoods and traffic thickens along the Downtown Connector. Pavement is dry now, but storms may develop later today.
According to the National Weather Service in Peachtree City, temperatures will climb to around 81°F this afternoon, well above typical early March levels. A few isolated showers or thunderstorms may develop after the mid-afternoon hours as moisture increases across north Georgia.
Drivers along I-75, I-85, and I-20 should watch for sudden downpours late today that could briefly reduce visibility. Most of the daylight hours remain partly sunny, but scattered storms could develop quickly toward evening.
Rain chances increase tonight as warmer Gulf air continues flowing north. A few thunderstorms may develop before early morning with temperatures staying mild near 63°F.
Storm coverage expands Saturday across metro Atlanta. Showers and thunderstorms become more likely during the afternoon and evening while temperatures again climb near 81°F. Brief heavy rain and lightning may affect outdoor plans and travel across Fulton, DeKalb, and Cobb counties.
More widespread rain arrives Saturday night. Showers remain likely into Sunday morning before gradually easing through the afternoon. Even with clouds, highs reach about 74°F.
Early Sunday also brings the annual clock shift. Clocks move forward one hour at 2 a.m., giving Georgia longer daylight evenings.
The weather turns milder but still active early next week. Monday may bring additional showers and thunderstorms with highs near 78°F. Temperatures could climb back near 81°F by Tuesday, keeping a warm spring pattern across the Southeast.
Meteorologists are watching for additional storm chances later next week as this active March pattern continues.
