Georgia – Clear skies stretch across much of the state this morning as Atlanta wakes to a mild start and the first true push of late-fall air just in time for Thanksgiving travel. The air feels crisp but calm, with light west winds brushing through north Georgia fields and temperatures hovering near 60°F.

The National Weather Service in Peachtree City says today will turn bright and mostly sunny, with highs reaching the low 60s. It’s a pleasant setup for travelers along I-75, I-85, and I-20, where traffic is expected to build throughout the day. By nightfall, cooler air begins to settle in, dropping lows near 35°F under clear skies. Those heading north toward the Appalachian foothills should expect even chillier air, where frost may form in valleys by early Thanksgiving morning.

Thanksgiving Day itself looks ideal—sunny, cool, and breezy, with highs near 50°F and northwest winds up to 20 mph. Outdoor plans, including morning turkey trots or family football, should go uninterrupted. However, the breeze may make it feel several degrees colder during the first half of the day.

Black Friday shoppers will step into brisk 40s at sunrise, with bright skies and low humidity lasting through the afternoon. The chill continues into Saturday before cloud cover and moisture build late Sunday, signaling a 40–50% chance of light rain returning early next week.

Looking ahead, a stronger Arctic front is projected to surge across the central and eastern U.S. starting December 1, bringing the potential for a major cold snap and even heavy snow well north of Georgia. The Peach State likely stays dry—but prepare for a noticeable drop in temperatures by early December.

Five-Day Outlook (Wed–Sun)
Today: Sunny, high 63°F.
Thursday: Sunny, 50°F.
Friday: Sunny, 47°F.
Saturday: Partly sunny, 50°F.
Sunday: Cloudy, chance of rain, 54°F.
