Atlanta, GA – With holiday shopping in full swing this week, the Fulton County Sheriff’s Office is partnering with the National Sheriffs’ Association and Amazon to help residents protect their packages from theft, a growing concern across metro Atlanta and throughout Georgia.

According to the Fulton County Sheriff’s Office, package theft complaints typically rise during December as delivery volume increases. Sheriff Patrick Labat says the agency hopes this year’s awareness campaign will help families take proactive steps that reduce unnecessary police calls and keep deputies focused on true emergencies.

The partnership highlights several Amazon delivery tools that customers can use immediately. According to the sheriff’s office, Same-Day Delivery customers in select areas can choose their preferred delivery window to ensure someone is home when orders arrive. Residents can also specify hidden drop-off locations through the Amazon app or website, keeping packages out of plain sight.

Another feature—Amazon Share Tracking—allows users to give family or friends temporary access to tracking details so they can retrieve packages on the customer’s behalf. Amazon also offers more than 25,000 pickup locations nationwide for secure in-person retrieval.

For added visibility, real-time Map Tracking is available on Amazon.com and in the app, enabling customers to monitor when a driver is nearing their home.

Deputies say these steps not only protect deliveries but also reduce the number of “porch pirate” calls to law enforcement during the busiest season of the year. Residents are encouraged to use delivery tools, remain vigilant, and report suspicious activity in their neighborhoods.
