Atlanta, Georgia — Cooler and breezy conditions are settling across north and central Georgia on Friday following an overnight cold front, with afternoon highs ranging from around 50 to the upper 50s.

According to the National Weather Service in Peachtree City, Friday will feature cool, dry air and gusty breezes across much of the region. High temperatures are expected to reach about 50 degrees in Atlanta, near 53 in Athens, 56 in Columbus, 57 in Macon, and around 50 in Rome.

The cooler conditions follow a cold front that moved through the area overnight, ushering in lower humidity and a noticeable drop in temperatures compared to recent days. Despite the chill, skies are expected to remain mostly sunny, helping keep daytime conditions comfortable.

A warming trend is forecast to begin Saturday and continue through the weekend. High temperatures are expected to climb into the upper 50s and lower 60s Saturday, followed by widespread highs in the low to mid-60s on Sunday. Macon could reach the upper 60s by Sunday afternoon, according to forecasters.

Dry weather is expected to persist through the weekend, with no significant rain chances indicated. The National Weather Service said the combination of sunshine and gradually warming temperatures should bring pleasant outdoor conditions across the region.

Officials noted that breezy conditions on Friday could still make it feel cooler at times, particularly during the morning and early afternoon hours. Residents are advised to dress accordingly, especially for early travel or outdoor activities.

Students, commuters, and outdoor workers may notice the sharpest contrast Friday, with cooler morning conditions giving way to a gradual warm-up over the weekend.
