Georgia – Sunshine and mild air return to north and central Georgia to finish the week, but the weekend won’t stay warm for long. After two beautiful days in the mid-60s, a cold front sweeping in Sunday will bring gusty winds and a sharp temperature drop to the region.
According to the National Weather Service in Peachtree City, Friday and Saturday will deliver classic December highs in the low to mid-60s across Atlanta, Athens, Macon, and Columbus—ideal for outdoor errands, decorating, or last-minute yardwork. Winds remain light and humidity low through Saturday afternoon.
By Sunday morning, that pattern breaks. A strong cold front pushes south, sending temperatures tumbling 15 to 20 degrees and introducing brisk northwest winds. Highs will struggle to reach the low 40s by late Sunday in metro Atlanta, with feels-like temperatures in the 30s through much of the day. The front clears quickly, but the chill lingers into Monday before gradual moderation midweek.
No rain or wintry weather is expected this weekend, but the air behind the front will be the coldest of the month so far. Expect crisp mornings, patchy frost, and wind chills near freezing early next week—especially across the higher elevations of north Georgia.
