Atlanta, GA – A quick round of light rain is expected to move across northern and central Georgia this evening before clearing overnight, according to the National Weather Service in Peachtree City.
Forecasters say Sunday began cloudy but dry across much of the state. Scattered showers will develop this afternoon and continue through the evening, moving north to south before tapering off late tonight into early Monday morning.
Rainfall totals will generally stay below 0.25 inches, though northwest Georgia could see slightly higher amounts. No flooding or severe weather is expected with this system.
Forecast data from the National Weather Service shows a 67% chance of rain in Atlanta, 74% in Rome, and around 47% in Athens. Once showers move out, dry and seasonable weather will return Monday and continue through the early part of the week.
Drivers should use caution on wet roads tonight, especially in northern counties where the rain begins first.
