Athens County, OH – A felony suspect was taken into custody Tuesday after a K-9-assisted foot pursuit through wooded and unstable terrain in Mineral Wells, according to the Athens County Sheriff’s Office.
According to the sheriff’s office, the incident occurred on Tuesday, December 17, while deputies with the K-9 Unit were patrolling the Center Street and State Route 356 area. Deputies reported observing a suspicious male near a residence who quickly fled on foot when approached.
Sheriff’s officials identified the suspect as Leslie K. Hall III, 46, who was known to deputies and allegedly had an active felony warrant stemming from multiple charges.
A K-9 unit was deployed to conduct a track, which led deputies across Center Street multiple times and into a wooded area with steep and unstable ground. Authorities said the track continued for approximately one-half mile.
During the pursuit, Hall allegedly changed direction, fell from behind two trees, and slid down a hillside into a ravine. Deputies reported that the K-9 continued the pursuit, at which point Hall ultimately surrendered.
Assisting units responded to the area, and Hall was taken into custody without further incident. He was searched, formally placed under arrest, and transported to the Southeastern Ohio Regional Jail, according to officials.
Hall’s felony warrant included the following charges:
- Breaking and Entering (F4)
- Failure to Comply with the Order of a Law Enforcement Officer (F3, two counts)
- Obstructing Official Business (F5)
- Resisting Arrest (M1)
Authorities said Hall will also face an additional charge of Obstructing Official Business (F5), which will be presented to the Athens County Grand Jury.
