Athens, OH – Deputies with the Athens County Sheriff’s Office responded to a series of incidents Thursday, September 18, ranging from juvenile issues to a scam complaint and a nursing home disturbance.

According to the sheriff’s office, deputies were first called around 7 a.m. to Glouster, where a juvenile refused to attend school due to conflicts with another student. Later, another child in Trimble told deputies he had not slept and did not want to attend classes. Both juveniles were transported or assisted in returning to school.

Around 12:17 p.m., deputies investigated a private property accident in the Coolville area. Just after 2 p.m., a woman in The Plains reported ongoing harassment by a neighbor. Deputies advised the other party to have no further contact with the caller.

At 2:48 p.m., deputies in Nelsonville took a report from a resident who claimed to have lost thousands of dollars in a video scam. An investigation into the complaint is ongoing.

That evening, at 7:24 p.m., deputies were dispatched to Hickory Creek Nursing Home regarding a resident who was allegedly intoxicated and threatening to harm others. The individual was transported to a hospital for a medical evaluation.

The Athens County Sheriff’s Office said reports were taken and follow-up investigations are underway in several of the cases.
