Aroostook County, ME – Troopers with Maine State Police Troop F are investigating three separate crashes involving tractor-trailers that occurred Monday morning and early afternoon across northern Aroostook County, leading to road closures, downed power lines, and traffic disruptions.

According to Maine State Police, the first incident was reported around 9:02 a.m. Monday on Route 11 in Masardis. Troopers determined a tractor-trailer hauling wood from a local mill attempted to cross an intersection with an overfilled load. The boom and trailer became entangled in overhead power lines, blocking the northbound lane of Route 11 for several hours. Crews from local fire departments, the Maine Forest Service, EMS, and Versant Power assisted at the scene.

A second crash was reported at approximately 9:36 a.m. on Portage Road in Nashville Plantation. Police say icy road conditions caused a 2007 Kia Spectra to slide off the roadway and strike a guardrail. While emergency crews were managing traffic, a loaded log truck rounded a blind curve, began sliding on the ice, jackknifed, and struck a Maine Forest Service patrol vehicle. The Forest Ranger was outside the vehicle at the time. The driver of the Kia, who was inside the patrol vehicle, was transported to the hospital with minor injuries.

Shortly after 12:00 p.m., troopers responded to a third crash near Route 11 and Winding Hill Road in Patten, where a tractor-trailer left the roadway, striking three utility poles. Power lines fell across both lanes, forcing a full closure of Route 11 for several hours. Police say icy conditions caused the driver to lose control.

All investigations remain ongoing.
