Maine drivers are navigating fresh snow and biting wind chills across Caribou this morning, where light snow and fog mix in 15-degree air. Visibility is reduced at times, and roads are quickly turning snow-covered.

A Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 7 p.m. this evening. The National Weather Service in Caribou expects total snow accumulations between 3 and 5 inches across northern and central Aroostook County.

Snow continues through much of the day. Highs reach near 29 degrees, with east winds around 5 to 10 mph. Periods of moderate snow may briefly lower visibility, especially along Route 1 and secondary roads. Plan extra time if traveling.

Conditions stay unsettled into tonight. Scattered snow showers linger, and temperatures fall to around 19 degrees. Untreated surfaces will remain slick. Winds shift north at 7 to 10 mph, adding to the chill.

Thursday turns mostly cloudy, then gradually clears, with a high near 25. Gusty northwest winds could reach 26 mph, creating areas of blowing snow in open fields. Thursday night drops sharply to near 7 degrees under mostly clear skies.

Friday stays sunny but cold, with a high near 25. Valentine’s Weekend begins brighter Saturday, reaching 29 degrees, though another chance of snow showers develops by afternoon. Early next week moderates slightly, with highs edging into the lower 30s.

Long-range trends point to milder air expanding across much of the country in the 6–10 day outlook, but winter still holds firm across northern Maine for now.
