Drivers in Arlington Heights should expect delays beginning Monday as westbound Euclid Avenue closes between Dryden Avenue and Arlington Heights Road for approximately four weeks. The closure is part of the ongoing Water Main Improvement Project.
According to the Village of Arlington Heights, the detour will send westbound traffic south on Dryden Avenue, west on Miner Street, south on Arlington Heights Road, and then northwest on Northwest Highway before reconnecting with Euclid Avenue. Eastbound lanes will remain open during the construction period.
Officials are urging motorists to plan extra travel time and use caution while navigating the detour. Traffic congestion is anticipated along the alternate route, particularly during peak morning and evening hours.
The project aims to replace aging water mains, which village engineers say will improve service reliability and reduce the risk of future breaks. Crews will also perform related utility work in the construction zone.
The work is scheduled to conclude in early September, weather permitting. The village has posted updates and a detour map on its official website to help residents prepare.
