Shreveport, Louisiana – Strong storms with damaging winds and pockets of heavy rain could rattle parts of the ArkLaTex region through Sunday evening, with the highest risk along and north of I-20 in East Texas and Northwest Louisiana.

According to the National Weather Service in Shreveport, isolated severe thunderstorms are likely across Northeast Texas, Southeast Oklahoma, Southwest Arkansas, and Northwest Louisiana. The main hazards include wind gusts over 60 mph and rainfall totals of up to an inch, which may trigger localized flash flooding.

Cities including Shreveport, Texarkana, El Dorado, Longview, and Monroe sit within a slight risk zone (Level 2 of 5) for severe weather today. The risk level drops to marginal for areas farther south, including Natchitoches and Alexandria.

Residents are urged to avoid driving through flooded roads and to secure outdoor objects that could become airborne in strong winds. Power outages and tree damage are also possible in the hardest-hit zones.

The storm threat is expected to taper off after sunset, but additional advisories may be issued depending on storm development.
