Shreveport, Louisiana – Quiet, warm conditions today will give way to a more dangerous setup by Sunday morning, with severe storms expected to impact the ArkLaTex region through the day.

According to the National Weather Service in Shreveport, highs will reach the mid-80s today across northwest Louisiana, northeast Texas, and southeast Oklahoma, with only isolated afternoon storms possible west of Shreveport. Rain chances remain low today, but the atmosphere begins to shift overnight.

By Sunday morning, storm chances increase rapidly, with scattered to numerous thunderstorms developing from late morning through the evening. Areas including Shreveport, Texarkana, Longview, and Tyler fall under a Level 1 of 5 severe risk, with threats including damaging wind gusts over 60 mph and large hail. A brief tornado cannot be ruled out, especially in northeast Texas and southeast Oklahoma.

Major routes like I-20 and I-49 could see hazardous travel during stronger storms, particularly during the afternoon and evening hours when activity peaks.

Another round of severe weather is possible by Wednesday, with a Level 2 risk developing northwest of I-30, including Texarkana, bringing the potential for all severe hazards once again.

Residents should stay weather-aware Sunday, ensure multiple ways to receive warnings, and prepare for rapidly changing conditions as this active pattern develops.
