Shreveport, Louisiana – Rain is moving back into the ArkLaTex region today, bringing a stretch of wet weather that could impact travel and outdoor plans through Saturday night.
According to the National Weather Service in Shreveport, a weak line of showers and a few thunderstorms will move west to east across the region today, with afternoon highs reaching between 79 and 85 degrees. Rain coverage will be scattered at first, but activity is expected to increase heading into Friday and Saturday.
Cities including Shreveport, Texarkana, and Longview could see multiple rounds of rain, with total rainfall amounts of 1 inch or more possible by Saturday night. Periods of heavier downpours may lead to ponding on roadways, especially along I-20 and I-49.
Gusty winds up to 25 mph may accompany stronger storms on Friday and Saturday, adding to travel concerns during peak driving hours.
Residents should remain alert for changing conditions and allow extra time on wet roads. The pattern begins to clear by Sunday, with cooler and drier air expected to move in for Easter, bringing improved conditions across the region.
