Shreveport, La. – Dangerous heat will blanket parts of Texas, Arkansas, Oklahoma, and Louisiana on Sunday, with feels-like temperatures soaring to 109°F in some areas between 10 a.m. and 8 p.m.

According to the National Weather Service in Shreveport, a Heat Advisory is in effect for dozens of counties across the ArkLaTex region, including Gregg, Rusk, and Angelina in East Texas; Sevier and Howard in Southwest Arkansas; McCurtain in Southeast Oklahoma; and nearly all of northern Louisiana. The advisory warns of increased risk for heat-related illnesses, especially during the hottest hours of the day.

Cities like Longview, Nacogdoches, and Lufkin in Texas, as well as De Queen, Idabel, and El Dorado, will face sweltering humidity and soaring temperatures. In Louisiana, residents from Shreveport to Monroe and Natchitoches are urged to stay indoors, hydrate frequently, and avoid strenuous activities during peak heat.

Officials recommend checking on vulnerable neighbors, wearing lightweight clothing, and knowing the signs of heat exhaustion—such as dizziness, nausea, and rapid heartbeat. If symptoms appear, seek shade or air conditioning immediately.

The advisory remains in effect through 8 p.m. Sunday, with additional alerts possible if the heat continues into next week.
