Shreveport, Louisiana – Scattered thunderstorms are expected to break up another hot summer afternoon across the ArkLaTex, where highs will climb into the low to mid-90s from Texarkana to Natchitoches.

According to the National Weather Service in Shreveport, most areas will see partly cloudy skies with isolated showers developing after 2 p.m., especially in deep east Texas and portions of northwestern Louisiana. Rain chances range from 20% to 50%, with the highest potential near Lufkin, Center, and Mansfield.

Localized downpours could briefly reduce visibility and bring gusty winds along I-20 and US-59. Residents in Marshall, Longview, and Ruston should stay weather-aware, as storms may pop up quickly amid the humid heat.

Temperatures are expected to top out between 92°F and 96°F in cities like Tyler, Alexandria, and El Dorado, with heat index values nearing 100°F in some spots. Outdoor workers and those without access to cooling should take precautions and stay hydrated.

Storm activity is expected to taper off by sunset, though more thunderstorm chances could return this weekend.
