Shreveport, Louisiana – Scattered thunderstorms and sweltering heat will sweep through the ArkLaTex region this afternoon, bringing rain chances as high as 69% and temperatures peaking in the low 90s across Shreveport, Natchitoches, and Monroe.

According to the National Weather Service in Shreveport, storm activity will increase from both the south and north beginning early afternoon and continue through the evening hours. Highs will climb into the upper 80s to low 90s, with areas like Homer, Jena, and Texarkana hitting 90–93°F.

Cities across northwest Louisiana and northeast Texas—such as Longview, Tyler, and Center—could see on-and-off thunderstorms, potentially slowing travel on I-20 and U.S. 79. Rain chances range from 30% in Mount Pleasant to over 65% in Jena. The humidity will make conditions feel even hotter, especially during peak heating hours.

Residents are urged to limit outdoor activity, hydrate frequently, and remain weather-aware as thunderstorms may produce brief heavy downpours and lightning. If storms linger past sundown, minor street flooding and isolated outages are possible.

Showers are expected to taper off tonight, but more unsettled weather may return early next week.
