Little Rock, AR – A winter storm is set to blanket large portions of Arkansas with significant snowfall starting Thursday afternoon, creating hazardous travel conditions and potential disruptions.
According to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Little Rock, a Winter Storm Watch has been issued for central, northern, and southeastern Arkansas, as well as portions of the Ouachita Mountains, effective from Thursday afternoon through Friday afternoon. Forecasters expect snow accumulations ranging from 3 to 7 inches, with some higher totals possible in the southwest and higher terrain areas.
The storm could bring slippery roadways and hazardous travel, particularly during the Thursday evening and Friday morning commutes. The NWS recommends that residents monitor weather updates and prepare for deteriorating conditions by securing essential supplies and adjusting travel plans if necessary.
The heaviest snowfall is anticipated over southwest Arkansas and the higher elevations of the Ouachita Mountains. Lower-lying regions, including Little Rock and other central areas, could also see significant accumulation.
