Little Rock, AR – A Red Flag Warning remains in effect across much of Arkansas today as dangerous wildfire conditions take hold due to gusty winds and critically low humidity.

According to the National Weather Service in Little Rock, the warning began at 10 a.m. and will continue through 7 p.m. Friday. Affected areas span more than 50 counties, including Pulaski, Garland, Baxter, and Pope, with fire weather zones covering northern, central, and western Arkansas.

Forecasters expect south to southwest winds ranging from 15 to 25 mph, with gusts potentially reaching 40 mph. Afternoon relative humidity levels could drop as low as 15 to 20 percent, creating ideal conditions for rapid wildfire spread.

Outdoor burning is strongly discouraged. Fires that develop may grow quickly and become difficult to control. Residents are urged to delay any activities involving open flames and to secure spark-producing equipment.

The Arkansas Forestry Division advises keeping emergency supplies on hand and monitoring local alerts. Those living near wooded areas should ensure defensible space around homes is clear of dry vegetation.

This event aligns with Arkansas’s spring wildfire season, when dry conditions and wind-driven systems often increase fire danger statewide.
