Little Rock, Arkansas – After a punishing stretch of triple-digit heat, relief is on the way for Arkansas residents as cooler temperatures and rain push in by the weekend. Cities across the state, including Little Rock, Pine Bluff, and Russellville, will see highs plunge from the upper 90s into the 80s starting Friday night.

According to the National Weather Service in Little Rock, a cold front will move through Arkansas on Friday, bringing a round of showers and storms. Behind it, drier and cooler air will settle in across the state, dropping daytime highs into the mid-to-upper 80s through Sunday. Heat advisories remain in effect for Wednesday and Thursday, with “feels-like” temperatures climbing past 105°F in some regions.

Pine Bluff and Monticello are expected to hit 101°F on Wednesday, while Mena and Hot Springs remain in the upper 90s. The overnight lows, still muggy through Thursday, will gradually ease into the 60s by the weekend.

Travelers and outdoor workers should stay hydrated and limit exposure during peak afternoon hours until the front arrives. The cooldown will be brief — hotter temps are forecast to return early next week.

Stay weather-aware: Additional advisories may be issued as rain chances increase Friday.
