LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – A thick, silvery fog has blanketed central Arkansas this morning, shrouding bridges, farmland, and early commuters in a damp haze. Visibility in some areas is down to a few hundred feet, and traffic along I-30 and I-40 is moving slowly as headlights struggle to cut through the murk.

According to the National Weather Service in Little Rock, a Dense Fog Advisory remains in effect until 8 AM CST Friday for much of central and eastern Arkansas, including Pulaski, White, Lonoke, and Faulkner counties. Drivers are urged to use low beams, reduce speed, and allow extra distance on slick roads. The fog is expected to lift gradually by mid-morning, giving way to low clouds and spotty showers.

A few isolated thunderstorms could develop later today, followed by partial clearing tonight. Saturday will bring calmer, brighter skies with highs in the upper 60s — ideal for last-minute leaf cleanup or early holiday errands. However, forecasters are already eyeing a stronger system Monday that could bring heavy rainfall near 1 to 2 inches and isolated thunder across the state, creating possible travel delays as the Thanksgiving rush begins.

Beyond the weekend, colder air from the Midwest may dip south by midweek, offering Arkansas its first “winter tease” — cooler nights and a breezy, crisp Thanksgiving setup. National outlooks still point to the potential for heavy snow (3–8 inches) across parts of the central and eastern U.S. between November 25 and early December, signaling a broader pattern shift toward winter.

For Arkansans, this weekend’s message is simple: drive carefully through the fog, then enjoy a bright, comfortable stretch before early-week rain moves in.
