Little Rock, Ark. – Morning storms rolled through southern Arkansas early Friday, bringing scattered lightning and downpours before tapering off just after sunrise. Conditions are already turning drier, but the break in weather won’t last long — heat and humidity are ramping up fast.
According to the National Weather Service in Little Rock, early thunderstorms mainly impacted the southern third of the state, with minimal risk of severe weather. By mid-morning, skies began clearing across Pulaski, Jefferson, and Grant counties, setting the stage for a stretch of hot, muggy days ahead.
Temperatures are expected to climb into the mid-80s this weekend, with mostly sunny skies across Little Rock, Pine Bluff, and Hot Springs. But by Monday, highs in the upper 80s to near 90 will combine with elevated humidity, pushing heat index values into the upper 90s — possibly hitting 100°F in isolated areas by Tuesday.
Late Tuesday into Thursday, more storms could return, especially in western and southern Arkansas. While heavy rainfall is possible, forecasters note that the exact location of the heaviest bands remains uncertain.
Storm chances rise again by midweek, so stay weather-aware and hydrated — and keep an eye out for updates, especially if you’re planning outdoor activities.
