Little Rock, Ark. – Much of Arkansas will swelter under a dangerous heat advisory through 8 p.m. Sunday as heat indices push past 105°F and afternoon highs soar into the mid-90s.

According to the National Weather Service in Little Rock, heat advisories are in effect for nearly all of central and eastern Arkansas, excluding portions of the northwest and far southwest. The highest heat index values are expected in Little Rock, Pine Bluff, and Monticello, where Sunday highs may peak near 96°F.

Rain chances remain low, with a 20–40% chance of isolated showers or storms, mainly in the northwest and north-central regions such as Hardy, Mountain View, and Harrison. Brief relief from the heat may occur during these scattered events, but most of the state will remain hot and dry through the evening.

Residents are urged to limit outdoor activity, stay hydrated, and use air conditioning when possible. Fans alone may not offer enough cooling during peak heat hours. Light-colored, breathable clothing is also recommended.

Conditions will remain hot into early next week as high pressure settles back over the region. Rain chances will diminish significantly by Monday, and additional heat advisories may be issued if trends continue.

🔎 5-Day Outlook for Central Arkansas:

  • Tuesday: High 97°F, sunny and dry
