LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – A thick gray sky blankets the capital this Tuesday morning, and the smell of rain already lingers in the air. Central Arkansas is waking up to a stormy pattern that will bring heavy showers, gusty winds, and possible lightning before a sharp shift to calmer, sunnier weather later this week.

According to the National Weather Service in Little Rock, scattered showers will intensify through midmorning and become widespread by afternoon. Thunderstorms could develop by late day, especially along the I-30 and I-40 corridors, where isolated downpours may slow the evening commute. Winds will pick up to 15–25 mph by late Tuesday as the front sweeps through.

Rain lingers into early Wednesday before tapering by midday. Behind the front, northwest winds gusting up to 30 mph will pull in cooler, drier air. Temperatures will top out in the upper 50s Wednesday afternoon — a brisk but welcome change after a humid start to the week.

By Thursday, skies turn crystal clear with highs near 61°F and calm winds, offering a near-perfect setup for late-week outdoor events or pre-Halloween decorating. Friday remains sunny and mild, ideal for trick-or-treat activities across Pulaski and Saline Counties.

Looking ahead to the weekend, mostly sunny conditions hold with highs in the 60s and lows in the 40s. It’s a calm, comfortable stretch to close out October — though to be fair, a chilly November is right around the corner.
