LITTLE ROCK, Arkansas – Soft morning light and calm winds greet central Arkansas today, wrapping the capital region in classic early-fall comfort. The quiet stretch of sun-filled afternoons and mild nights continues through the end of the week — but a cold front building to the north promises a cooler, breezier turn as the weekend approaches.

According to the National Weather Service in Little Rock, temperatures will rise steadily through Friday, with highs near 75 to 77 degrees and plenty of sunshine. Winds will stay light through Thursday, then begin shifting southwest and strengthening slightly ahead of the front. Skies stay mostly clear, offering excellent conditions for travel, outdoor work, and early holiday decorating.

By Friday, the first sign of change arrives as the front sweeps across the Ozarks and down the Arkansas River Valley. The system won’t bring much rain, but cooler air will filter in behind it, knocking weekend highs into the mid-50s and lows into the 30s — crisp enough for a light jacket by Saturday morning.

The weekend will feel distinctly more seasonal, with bright blue skies and calm north breezes replacing the recent warmth. Sunday’s sunshine will linger, but another push of colder air early next week could bring the first widespread frost to portions of northern and central Arkansas ahead of Veterans Day.

Residents should take advantage of this week’s mild conditions to finish outdoor chores or leaf cleanup before the next chill sets in.
