LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – A widespread Freeze Warning is in effect across nearly all of Arkansas late Sunday night through Monday morning as Arctic air drives temperatures into the upper teens and 20s — marking the coldest morning of the fall season so far.
According to the National Weather Service in Little Rock, the warning runs from 9 p.m. Sunday to 9 a.m. Monday, covering central, northern, and southern Arkansas, including Little Rock, Hot Springs, Conway, Pine Bluff, Stuttgart, Monticello, and Russellville. Forecasters expect lows between 18°F and 28°F, with higher terrain and rural valleys dipping into the teens.
Officials urge residents to wrap exposed pipes, drain outdoor faucets, and bring pets and plants indoors. Sensitive vegetation will not survive the freeze, and unprotected outdoor plumbing could burst if not insulated. Arkansas Department of Transportation crews warn of possible icy spots on elevated bridges in the early morning hours, particularly along I-40, I-30, and U.S. 65 corridors.
The deep chill will linger into early Monday before sunshine brings modest afternoon recovery. Another round of light frost is possible Tuesday morning, though highs will rebound midweek as southerly winds return. This freeze will likely end the 2025 growing season statewide.
