Arkansas – Headlights glow softly through low clouds across central Arkansas this morning as fog settles into neighborhoods and along river corridors. The air feels damp and mild, and visibility drops quickly in spots, slowing early drivers before the day brightens.

According to the National Weather Service in Little Rock, patchy fog lingers through the morning hours, especially between 7 and 9 a.m. Visibility may dip below three miles at times near Little Rock Adams Field and along stretches of I-30 and I-40. Winds stay light, allowing fog to hang on a bit longer before thinning late morning.

Once fog lifts, clouds gradually break. Afternoon temperatures climb near 71 today, well above late-December averages. Roads dry out quickly, improving conditions for errands and local travel across Pulaski, Saline, and Faulkner counties.

The warm trend strengthens through Christmas Day. Highs reach the mid-70s Wednesday and Thursday, paired with light southwest winds. Nights stay mild, with lows near 60. For now, winter hazards remain absent, and travel remains smooth across central Arkansas highways.

Friday stands out for post-Christmas travel. Sunshine dominates, temperatures push toward 77, and winds increase slightly with occasional gusts near 20 mph. Traffic volume may slow travel more than weather, especially during peak afternoon hours.

Changes arrive this weekend. Clouds increase Saturday night, and showers become possible. Cooler air follows, with highs dropping into the 50s Sunday and colder nights early next week. Lows near freezing return by Monday night, raising the risk for slick spots if moisture lingers.

For now, slow down in fog-prone areas this morning and allow extra time. Winter patterns can shift fast after warm stretches. Traveling Friday or over the weekend? Tell us what conditions you’re seeing across central Arkansas.
