Little Rock, AR – A cold front moving across Arkansas today will bring widespread rain, gusty winds, and falling temperatures, with the coldest readings expected late this evening, according to the National Weather Service.
According to the National Weather Service in Little Rock, Thursday morning temperatures are not expected to be the day’s low, as a colder air mass will arrive behind the front later today. Most areas started the morning in the upper 40s to mid-50s, including Little Rock (around 49°F), Fayetteville (low 50s), Jonesboro (upper 40s), and Texarkana (mid-50s).
Rain showers are expected throughout the day, with the highest rain chances across central, northern, and eastern Arkansas. Forecast models show rain probabilities exceeding 70–90% in parts of the state, including Little Rock, Pine Bluff, Jonesboro, and Mountain View.
As the front passes, winds will increase, with gusts between 20 and 35 mph possible, especially across northwest and central Arkansas, including Fort Smith, Russellville, and Fayetteville. These winds could make driving difficult for high-profile vehicles and may blow around unsecured outdoor objects.
Temperatures will fall sharply late this afternoon and evening, reaching their lowest levels late Thursday evening just before midnight, rather than overnight into Friday morning. While no wintry precipitation is expected, the colder air will be noticeable statewide.
Residents are encouraged to carry rain gear, secure loose outdoor items, and be prepared for cooler, breezy conditions tonight as the front clears the region.
