Arkansas wakes up under a thick gray sky as showers spread across Little Rock and the Arkansas River Valley. Pavement along I-30 and I-40 is already damp, and steadier rain builds through the afternoon with heavier bands lining up for tonight.

According to the National Weather Service in North Little Rock, rain chances increase to 90% today with highs near 68 degrees. Showers and thunderstorms become widespread later today, with a 100% chance of rain tonight. Some storms could produce heavy rainfall, and new amounts between 1 and 2 inches are possible. East winds around 5 to 10 mph will shift south overnight.

Drivers across Pulaski County should prepare for ponding water and slower traffic during heavier downpours. Reduced visibility may develop quickly, especially along the I-430 corridor and Highway 67/167. Conditions may deteriorate late in the day as thunderstorms intensify. Charge devices and review severe weather safety plans now.

Rain continues into Sunday morning with highs climbing to 83 degrees before drier air arrives. Skies clear Sunday night, and Washington’s Birthday turns sunny with a high near 65. Temperatures rebound to 72 Tuesday and reach the upper 70s by midweek.

That puts central Arkansas 10 to 20 degrees above average through much of President’s Day week. February warmth will dominate, and no winter cold snap is in sight. Spring vibes are building fast across the Natural State.
