Arkansas – Dark clouds build and the air feels heavy this afternoon as scattered storms begin to develop across central parts of the state.
According to the National Weather Service, a 50 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms increases after 1 p.m. around Little Rock, with highs near 82°F and south winds gusting up to 20 mph. Brief downpours and lightning will be the main concerns through the late afternoon.
Across Little Rock, North Little Rock, and Benton, drivers on I-30 and I-40 should watch for slick pavement and sudden slowdowns. Visibility may drop quickly during heavier rain bursts. Plan for extra travel time and keep headlights on during storms.
Conditions settle heading into Tuesday with drier air and partial sunshine returning. Temperatures climb into the mid-80s, giving the region a short break from active weather.
That break does not last long. Meteorologists are tracking another round of showers and thunderstorms developing by Wednesday afternoon. Rain chances climb again into the evening, with a stronger setup possible into early Thursday. Some storms could produce heavier rainfall and gusty winds.
By Friday, warmth surges back with highs near 89°F under mostly sunny skies. That early summer feel continues into the weekend, but scattered storms may return Saturday with higher rain chances.
