Little Rock, AR – Residents across southeast Arkansas should prepare for strong to severe thunderstorms today, with the greatest impacts expected through the early afternoon hours, according to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Little Rock.
Forecasters say a cold front moving southeast will trigger scattered storms, some of which may reach severe levels before activity shifts east of the state by late Wednesday afternoon. Damaging wind gusts remain the primary hazard, though locally heavy rainfall is also possible.
According to the NWS, the threat for tornadoes and large hail is lower compared to earlier in the week, but a few brief severe thunderstorms may still develop. The agency warns that southeast counties, including areas near Pine Bluff and Monticello, are most at risk during the early to mid-afternoon hours.
Motorists are advised to use caution as strong wind gusts could create hazardous driving conditions. Residents should also monitor local alerts for possible warnings if storms intensify.
The NWS recommends having multiple ways to receive severe weather information throughout the day, as conditions could change quickly.
