LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – Rain splashes softly against porches and pavement across central Arkansas early this Sunday morning, signaling another damp fall day for the capital region. The air feels thick, with fog creeping through river bottoms and low-lying areas as warm, humid air clashes with an approaching front.

According to the National Weather Service in Little Rock, widespread showers and isolated thunderstorms will continue through late morning before tapering by afternoon. Gusts may reach 20 mph along I-40 and Highway 67, where heavier downpours could briefly reduce visibility. A few areas could see ponding on local roads during heavier bursts of rain.

By Monday, skies begin to dry out, leaving behind mild temperatures in the mid-60s and light north winds. Tuesday brings another wave of unsettled weather, with scattered showers and a few rumbles of thunder likely after lunchtime. While this second system won’t pack much severe punch, it will open the door to noticeably cooler air by midweek.

Highs will slide into the 50s Wednesday with brisk northwest winds — perfect for late-October cleanup or yard prep before Halloween. Early-morning lows could dip into the 40s across the Ozarks and into the upper 40s for Pulaski and Saline Counties.

For Halloween Friday, current trends point to ideal trick-or-treat conditions: partly sunny skies, calm winds, and evening temperatures near 60 degrees. Residents can expect a crisp, pleasant night for outdoor events across central Arkansas.

Looking ahead, forecasters are hinting at a chilly November ahead, with the first true cold snap possible as early as next weekend.
