Little Rock, AR – Arkansas residents should prepare for a significant heat wave as temperatures are expected to soar into the triple digits today, posing a major heat risk across the state. The National Weather Service in Little Rock has issued a heat advisory, warning of a high heat index that could reach dangerous levels.

According to the National Weather Service, overnight lows will remain warm, hovering in the lower to mid-70s. The heat risk is expected to escalate on Monday, with parts of the state experiencing moderate to major heat levels. Residents are urged to take precautions, including drinking plenty of water, taking frequent breaks, and wearing loose, light-colored clothing.

The forecast predicts Little Rock will see a high of 94°F on Monday, with the heat index pushing temperatures into the triple digits. The heat wave is expected to intensify through the week, with temperatures climbing to 97°F by Tuesday and remaining at that level through Thursday. The overnight lows will offer little relief, staying in the mid to upper 70s.

This extreme heat can pose serious health risks, particularly for vulnerable populations such as the elderly, children, and those with pre-existing health conditions. Residents are advised to stay indoors during peak heat hours, typically between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m., and to check on neighbors who may need assistance.
