Little Rock, Ark. – Drivers across central Arkansas may need extra caution on the roads early Monday as thunderstorms and heavy showers push into Little Rock. With wet pavement likely along I-30 and I-40, the morning commute could slow and visibility may drop quickly.

According to the National Weather Service in Little Rock, storms begin building late Sunday with rain chances peaking Monday morning into the afternoon. Temperatures will reach 90 Monday, adding humidity and unstable air that could fuel heavier cells. Forecasters warn of brief downpours, lightning, and gusty winds.

Sunday starts warm, near 92, with isolated storms possible by late afternoon. Storms will expand after dark, especially south and east of Pulaski County. Overnight lows stay in the upper 60s, keeping muggy air in place.

Travelers should allow extra time Monday, charge phones in case of power outages, and avoid driving through standing water. While widespread flooding is not expected, low-lying areas and poorly drained roads could see ponding.

By Tuesday, showers linger with highs in the upper 80s, followed by steadier rain Tuesday night. Midweek brings cooler air as highs dip into the lower 80s Wednesday and Thursday with scattered showers.

Conditions improve late week, but lingering rain chances remain. Additional advisories may be issued if storms intensify or rainfall totals rise.
