LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – A surge of moisture and unstable air will spark a round of thunderstorms across central Arkansas on Saturday, bringing a brief but intense stretch of rain before a sharp cooldown Sunday. Fall weather returns in full force to cap the weekend, with highs dropping nearly 15 degrees behind the front.

According to the National Weather Service in Little Rock, widespread showers and scattered thunderstorms will develop by Saturday afternoon along the I-40 corridor from Conway through North Little Rock to Lonoke. Some storms could produce gusty winds up to 25 mph and brief downpours, creating slick roads and slower travel for drivers heading to football games or weekend events.

The Arkansas Department of Transportation urges motorists to allow extra travel time and watch for ponding in low-lying areas during heavier rainfall. Residents are also advised to secure outdoor Halloween decorations and lightweight lawn furniture before the storms move in.

By Sunday, the front clears the state, ushering in crisp, sunny conditions and much lower humidity. Highs will settle near 69°F under clear skies — perfect for pumpkin patch visits, fall markets, or outdoor family plans. Monday and Tuesday continue the trend of mild sunshine with calm winds and morning lows dipping into the upper 40s.

Looking ahead, a light shower chance returns midweek, but Arkansas enjoys several days of prime fall weather ideal for decorating, hiking, and leaf-viewing as October enters its final stretch.
