Little Rock, AK – Bitter cold air and two fast-moving storm systems are setting the stage for a slick and potentially dangerous start to the week across Arkansas. Wind chills will plunge into the teens and 20s Sunday and Monday mornings, with light snow and freezing rain possible statewide by Monday morning.
According to the National Weather Service in Little Rock, the first system may bring early flurries to northern and northeast Arkansas Saturday night into Sunday, though no accumulation is expected. The bigger concern arrives Monday as a second system develops, combining with colder air to bring a mix of snow and freezing rain.
The highest chances for accumulating snow—around 0.1″ or more—are along the Missouri border, especially near Harrison, Mountain Home, and Pocahontas. Meanwhile, central Arkansas, including Little Rock and Conway, faces a 30–40% chance of freezing rain, with light ice accumulations potentially causing minor travel issues on bridges and untreated roads.
Wind chills will range from 13°F to 22°F across most of the state, especially early Monday, as winds lighten but cold air lingers. Drivers are urged to monitor conditions closely and avoid non-essential travel Monday morning if icy roads develop.
Additional advisories may be issued as confidence in precipitation timing and type improves.
