Fayetteville, AR – Residents in northwest Arkansas are being urged to use caution this afternoon as heavy rain continues to cause flooding across parts of Benton and Washington counties.

According to the National Weather Service in Tulsa, a Flood Advisory remains in effect until 4:15 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 20, 2025. Radar has tracked between one and two inches of rainfall across the region, with more showers possible.

Officials said Springdale is the most likely area to see minor flooding, but other affected locations include Fayetteville, Siloam Springs, Lowell, Farmington, Prairie Grove, Elkins, Tontitown, and West Fork. Smaller communities such as Johnson, Greenland, Elm Springs, and Goshen are also included in the advisory.

Impacts are expected to remain minor but could affect low-lying roads, poor drainage areas, and small streams. The advisory urges drivers not to attempt to drive across water-covered roadways, noting that most flood deaths occur in vehicles.

The National Weather Service continues to monitor the storm system and warns that rainfall totals could increase if thunderstorms persist into the evening.
