Little Rock, AR – Arkansas residents are being warned of a high risk for flash flooding as heavy rainfall continues throughout the weekend. A flash flood watch is in effect for much of the state, with up to 6 inches of rain expected in some areas by Saturday night.

According to the National Weather Service, the rainfall will vary across Arkansas, with the eastern half of the state experiencing the heaviest totals. Cities such as Little Rock, Searcy, and West Memphis could see 4 to 6 inches of rain, while areas to the west, including Fort Smith and Fayetteville, are expected to receive up to 2 inches.

A High (level 4/4) risk of excessive rainfall is in place, leading to potential flooding hazards, especially in low-lying and urban areas. Multiple waves of rain are forecast to continue throughout the day, raising the likelihood of flash flooding.

The NWS urges residents to stay updated on local weather alerts and avoid traveling in flood-prone areas. Emergency crews are on standby as flash flooding concerns rise.
