Little Rock, Arkansas – Flood-prone areas in Arkansas may see up to 7 inches of rain by Sunday night, as a multi-day thunderstorm pattern sets in. Drivers on I-30 and I-40 should prepare for flash flooding and hazardous conditions Friday into the weekend, especially in southwestern and central counties.

According to the National Weather Service in Little Rock, widespread showers and thunderstorms are likely all day Friday, with a 90% chance of precipitation in Little Rock and higher totals across the southern half of the state. Localized flooding is expected Friday afternoon and Friday night, particularly near Garland, Pike, and Polk counties. Storms may also produce gusty winds and reduce visibility on highways.

Heavy rain will persist Saturday and Sunday with multiple rounds of storms. Travel delays, water over roads, and power outages are possible. Avoid driving through water-covered roads, charge devices, and monitor alerts closely.

Looking ahead, hot and humid conditions return Monday, with heat indices topping 100°F by midweek. Though storms taper off by Monday afternoon, a 20% chance remains on Monday morning. Dry and sunny weather dominates Tuesday and Wednesday — ideal for outdoor Father’s Day plans or Juneteenth travel, but heat safety becomes the concern.

Warnings remain in effect through Sunday night.
