Little Rock, Arkansas – Flash flooding could wash out Memorial Day plans across central Arkansas as a line of powerful thunderstorms targets Little Rock and surrounding counties Monday through Monday night.
According to the National Weather Service in Little Rock, a Flood Watch remains in effect until 7 p.m. Monday, covering most of central and north-central Arkansas. Torrential downpours could drop 2 to 3 inches of rain in just a few hours. Localized street flooding is likely, especially along Interstates 30 and 40, and smaller roadways in low-lying areas.
Creeks and rivers may rise rapidly, especially in urban zones like North Little Rock, Conway, and Hot Springs. Motorists should avoid driving through water-covered roads and have alternate routes in case closures occur. Outdoor Memorial Day events could face cancellations as storms move in by late morning.
Monday’s high will reach 77°F, with heavy rain and thunderstorms expected through the evening. Winds will shift from the northeast to southeast by afternoon. Showers continue into Monday night, followed by additional rainfall into Tuesday morning, when storms become more widespread.
Looking ahead, Tuesday’s high jumps to 82°F, with steady showers expected. Wednesday and Thursday bring milder conditions with highs near 79°F and a mix of sun and scattered clouds. By Friday, skies will clear, with highs in the low 80s—offering a more classic early summer pattern.
Stay alert for more updates as additional warnings may be issued Monday afternoon.
