
Bluff City, AR – A tornado that struck Nevada County on March 14 has had its track and width officially revised following enhanced satellite data analysis.
According to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Shreveport, LA, the EF-2 tornado’s damage path south of Bluff City now extends 14.83 miles, an increase of just over 5 miles from previous estimates. Using advanced satellite imagery from the NASA Commercial Satellite Data Acquisition Program and other NASA entities, the agency also revised the tornado’s maximum width to 1,263 yards, up from 700 yards.
The tornado occurred between 10:55 p.m. and 11:09 p.m. CDT with estimated peak winds of 115 mph. Despite the storm’s intensity, no injuries or fatalities were reported. The twister cut through rural areas including Dill’s Mills, Mount Moriah, and near White Oak Lake.
Residents are urged to maintain weather alert systems and review storm shelter plans. Officials say enhanced satellite data can significantly improve damage assessments, helping emergency responders better prepare for future events.
