Hope, AR – Two tornadoes were confirmed in southwestern Arkansas this week, following a series of storms that left significant damage but no injuries. On the morning of April 5, an EF-2 tornado struck near Hope, Arkansas, with winds reaching 115 mph. The tornado traveled 10.6 miles and had a maximum width of 500 yards. The damage occurred between 9:36 AM and 9:50 AM CDT.
On the evening of April 4, a second tornado, rated EF-1, impacted areas near the Hempstead and Nevada County lines. This tornado, with peak winds of 105 mph, was on the ground for just a brief 3-minute period from 8:29 PM to 8:32 PM CDT, covering a path length of 2.8 miles and a maximum width of 375 yards.
The National Weather Service in Shreveport, Louisiana, confirmed both tornadoes following a damage survey. Fortunately, no injuries were reported with either tornado. Local authorities are continuing to assess the full extent of the damage in both areas.
