Little Rock, AR – A powerful cold front is sweeping across Arkansas today, bringing a stark temperature drop and frost risks for much of the state by Wednesday morning. Residents in northern Arkansas should prepare for the possibility of light snow flurries late tonight.

According to the National Weather Service, temperatures across the state will peak between 43°F and 60°F today, with northern regions seeing the coldest highs. By early Wednesday, lows are expected to plunge to near-freezing, with readings as low as 27°F in Fayetteville and 32°F in Little Rock. The rapid cooldown increases the likelihood of frost and slick roads, especially along highways such as I-49 in the northern counties.

As skies clear Tuesday afternoon, sunshine will return midweek, with highs near 50°F on Wednesday and Thursday. However, another chance of showers could arrive late Friday into Saturday. Northern areas may also see a return of snow chances as another system moves in next week.

Drivers should exercise caution during the frosty mornings, especially in shaded areas prone to ice. Farmers and gardeners should also take measures to protect sensitive plants.

Looking ahead, Little Rock residents can expect mostly sunny skies Thursday, with highs in the low 50s. Rain becomes more likely by Friday night, with showers and a wintry mix possible over the weekend. Stay updated with weather alerts for changes.
